We had a lovely trip on our boat today with children from the preschool room at Sunflowers Nursery, Grafton. Their current topic that they are learning about is 'Houses' and they have created a model of a house boat. So that the children can experience life on a house boat themselves, they visited us this morning and we travelled up to Pewsey.
Charlotte loved having all her friends visit, and showed them how things worked, including the pump loos! It was quite an adventure for everyone - we had twelve children between the ages of three and four, and seven adults on the boat (including my Mum isn't a great fan of boats!). They enjoyed looking out of the windows, looking for wildlife and all the autumnal colours of the leaves. Snack was organised in rotation, and it all worked well. Unfortunately the weather was rather wet, poor Matthew had to take sheltered under an umbrella, whilst steering the boat. Once we reached Pewsey, we had another exercise of organisation, swapping slippers for wellies and raincoats again before Sunflowers disembarked.
